1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how RadioPulse ("we", "us", or "our") handles user information when you use our mobile application and related automotive integrations (including Apple CarPlay).

We believe that privacy is a fundamental human right. RadioPulse is designed to stream internet radio without requiring user profiling, advertising IDs, or registration.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

When you download, install, and listen to radio stations with RadioPulse:

  • No User Accounts: You do not need to register, create a username, or provide an email address or phone number.
  • No Location Tracking: We do not request, access, or track your GPS coordinates or precise location. Station directories are filtered based on country/genre selections made manually by you.
  • No Advertising Trackers: We do not use third-party behavioral advertising SDKs (such as Facebook Audience Network, Google AdMob, or AppsFlyer).
  • No IDFA Tracking: We do not access Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and will never track you across apps owned by other companies.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

To enhance your listening experience, RadioPulse stores certain preferences locally on your iPhone or iPad using the operating system's private storage (such as iOS Preferences):

  • Favorites & Custom Lists: The radio stations you bookmark or add to custom playlists.
  • Playback Preferences: Last selected volume, audio buffer settings, and discovery filters.
  • Recently Played Stations: The list of recently tuned stations for quick resumption.

This data remains strictly on your local device. It is never transmitted to any private RadioPulse server or sold to third parties. If you uninstall the application, this data is automatically removed by the operating system.

4. Streaming Connections & Third-Party Services

RadioPulse acts as a player that connects to publicly accessible internet streams:

  • Radio-Browser Community Directory: To provide directory search results, RadioPulse queries the community-maintained, open-source Radio-Browser API. These queries are anonymous search requests (e.g. "search rock stations") and contain no personal identifiers.
  • Direct Radio Broadcaster Streams: When you tap "Play", your device establishes a direct HTTP/HTTPS audio connection to the broadcaster’s media stream server (e.g., Icecast or Shoutcast). Like any standard web request, the radio station’s server receives your IP address to deliver the audio stream packets. Broadcasters operate under their own independent privacy policies.

5. iOS Permissions & Apple CarPlay

RadioPulse requests only the technical capabilities required to function as an audio player:

  • Background Audio (`audio` mode): Allows the live stream to continue playing while your device screen is locked or while using navigation applications.
  • Apple CarPlay: Enables the driver-safe template interface on your vehicle’s dashboard display. CarPlay operates locally using Apple’s standard CPTemplateApplicationSceneSessionRoleApplication architecture.
  • Remote Command Center: Allows lock screen, Control Center, and steering wheel hardware buttons (Play/Pause/Skip) to control playback.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

RadioPulse does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). Because we do not collect personal data from any user, our services comply fully with children's privacy protection regulations.

7. Your Privacy Choices & US State Consumer Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (such as California under the CCPA/CPRA, Virginia under the VCDPA, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or the EEA/UK under the GDPR), you have specific rights regarding your personal information, including the Right to Know, Right to Delete, Right to Non-Discrimination, and Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing.
